About Alan Duggan
My name is Alan Duggan and I am a photographer based in Fleetwood, a small Lancashire town in the North West of England.
My photography journey began when I decided to visit an old Asylum that was being demolished. I wanted to document the Asylum before it was gone forever and I thought what better way to do this than in pictures.
Since visiting the abandoned asylum I have been lucky enough to visit many other abandoned locations not just in the UK but also in France, Belgium & Luxembourg. Here are a few links to some of the locations I have visited, they are grouped by country. UK Reports, France Reports, Belgium Reports & Luxembourg Reports.
Although photographing abandoned locations is where my photography began I have taken a real interest in portrait photography and you can see some examples of my work by clicking here.
I have been a member of a local Photographic Society (Poulton-Le-Fylde PS) since 2014. I joined the club in the intermediate bracket and on my first year I managed to win the trophy for the intermediate Colour category. Shortly after I was moved to the Advanced section of the club which has proved to be a much harder challenge, however, it is a challenge that will help me push and improve my ability as a photographer.
In the latter part of 2015 I started to enter the National BPE exhibitions where I have been awarded my BPE1* Crown award and a further three other awards (2 Highly Commended and a Selectors Award) for my work. I am currently working towards gaining my BPE2* Crown Award.
